The Cottonwood Tree
Under the Cottonwood Tree
"Where imagination meets reality"
Cottonwood trees surround the place where I live. As I watch them weather the seasons, I am reminded of how harsh life can be, how clever nature is in its adaptation, and how much it all reminds me of my own journey. Their roots spread easily, creating what I call companion trees, which add stability and strength. Their branches shed twigs continuously, sometimes making a mess. In the spring, they release puffs of cotton that linger in the air like a silent prayer.
Cottonwood trees annoy those who like things neat and uncluttered. I decided long ago to forgive them for their imperfections because the quiet rustle of their slivery leaves calms my breathing. Their persistent propagation, even in the toughest of circumstances, models the perseverance of nature.
I have created this website to share parts of myself with you. I am a poet, a children’s author, and a photographer. As time will allow, I will post my writing, photos, and anything thing else that strikes my fancy. I will have books for sale with the possibility for you to purchase them directly from the website. What I share may be messy – it may strike a chord in you – it may annoy you – it may make you laugh – it may touch you. My hope is that through this site, we will connect, one human being to another.
